Tesla has made a significant upgrade to its Model S Plaid by now offering front sport seats as standard equipment. Priced at $93,380, including a $1,390 destination charge, the electric super sedan now comes with seats that are perfect for those who enjoy taking their cars to the track.
The new sport seats feature extra bolstering to keep bodies in place during high-speed maneuvers, as well as suede trim for added grip. They also come equipped with luxurious features such as heating and cooling, 12-way power adjustments, and a black Plaid logo in the centers.
This addition comes on the heels of the launch of the Track Package last year, which includes carbon-ceramic brake rotors and a firmware update that allows the car to reach a top speed of 200 mph. The package can also be further enhanced with a tire and wheel upgrade that includes 20-inch forged aluminum wheels wrapped in Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R tires.
The Model S Plaid with the Track Package recently set a record lap time of 7:25.231 at Germany’s Nürburgring racetrack, making it the fastest electric vehicle at the track at the time. However, more powerful rivals like the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT and Rimac Nevera hypercar have since set faster lap times.
With a peak output of 1,020 hp from three motors (one at the front and two at the rear), the Model S Plaid is capable of accelerating from 0-60 mph in under 2.0 seconds, completing a quarter-mile in 9.23 seconds, and reaching a top speed of 200 mph.
While the Model S Plaid now comes with front sport seats as standard, it remains to be seen whether the Model X Plaid will also receive this upgrade. Tesla has yet to make an announcement regarding the Model X Plaid and its seat options.
