Tesla’s Model 3 has once again proven its commitment to safety by achieving top ratings in China’s Electric Vehicle Fire Safety Index and Automotive Fire Safety Certification. This recognition highlights the strong safety performance of the popular electric vehicle.
According to data provided by Tesla, between 2012 and 2022, there was approximately one Tesla vehicle fire for every 130 million miles traveled. In comparison, data from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and the U.S. Department of Transportation shows that, on average, there is a vehicle fire for every 19 million miles traveled in the United States. This means that Tesla vehicles are about seven times less likely to experience a fire compared to the national average.
Tesla Asia recently shared pictures of both certificates on X, showcasing the company’s dedication to ensuring the safety of its vehicles. The certifications serve as a testament to Tesla’s ongoing efforts to prioritize safety in all aspects of its vehicle design and production.
In addition to its safety achievements, Tesla has also seen success in the Chinese market, with the company selling 78,856 cars in China in November 2024. This marked a 15.5% increase from October and represented the highest monthly sales for the year. Of these sales, approximately 73,000 were domestic sales. However, compared to November 2023, sales were down 4.3%. As we look ahead to December, it will be interesting to see how Tesla’s sales in China will fare.
Overall, Tesla’s Model 3 continues to impress with its top safety ratings and strong performance in the Chinese market. With a focus on innovation, sustainability, and safety, Tesla remains a leader in the electric vehicle industry, setting the standard for excellence in both technology and safety.
