Tesla has introduced a new 3-year subscription bundle for the Model S and Model X, priced at $5,000. This bundle includes access to Full Self Driving (FSD) (Supervised), free Supercharging, and Premium Connectivity. The offer is currently only available for the Model S and Model X, with Model 3 and Model Y orders limited to purchasing FSD at its full price of $8,000.
The 3-year subscription bundle has been met with positive feedback from the electric vehicle community, particularly from those who lease their cars for three years. However, it should be noted that vehicles used for commercial purposes are not eligible for this bundle.
The pricing of the 3-year bundle is considered reasonable when compared to the individual costs of the services included. Full Self Driving’s monthly subscription is $99, totaling $3,564 over three years. Premium Connectivity costs $10 a month, amounting to $360 over three years. While free Supercharging cannot be purchased individually, a rough estimate puts its value at around $30 a month or $1,080 over three years. When combined, the three services add up to $5,004 over a three-year period.
Despite the potential popularity of Tesla’s 3-year bundle, it is currently limited to the Model S and Model X, meaning only a small group of customers can take advantage of the offer. In the second quarter, Tesla delivered approximately 12,700 Model S and Model X vehicles, out of a total of 21,551 non-Model 3/Y vehicles. This limited availability may impact the overall adoption of the bundle.
Overall, Tesla’s new subscription bundle for the Model S and Model X offers a cost-effective way for customers to access key services like FSD, free Supercharging, and Premium Connectivity. As Tesla continues to innovate and expand its offerings, it will be interesting to see how this subscription model evolves and whether it will be extended to other vehicle models in the future.
