Elon Musk Confident in Tesla Cybercab Production Timeline
CEO Elon Musk has once again reaffirmed the timeline for production of the Tesla Cybercab, showcasing his unwavering confidence in the company’s ability to meet the aggressive schedule for the vehicle.
This marks the third instance in the last six months where Musk has explicitly stated that the Cybercab will begin production in April 2026.
During a recent announcement, Musk reiterated that the Cybercab will enter its initial manufacturing phase in April without the inclusion of pedals or a steering wheel, debunking previous speculations about these features.
“Cybercab, which has no pedals or steering wheel, starts production in April,” Musk tweeted on February 16, 2026.
Musk’s ambitious timelines have often been a topic of discussion, with some products being teased for years before coming to fruition. Despite Tesla’s track record of missing deadlines, many remain optimistic about the company’s progress and technological advancements.
However, the Cybercab stands out as a unique case, with Musk consistently reiterating the April production start date over the past few months.
In December 2025, Musk mentioned that Tesla was in the process of testing the production system for the Cybercab, with full-scale production set to begin in April.
Subsequent statements in January and February further solidified Musk’s commitment to the April production timeline for the Cybercab.
Musk has also managed expectations for the initial production phase of the Cybercab, noting that the process will follow an S-curve pattern, starting slow before ramping up speed as production progresses.
With the Cybercab being a key component of Tesla’s autonomous ride-sharing plans, the company’s focus on meeting production deadlines and delivering innovative technology remains a top priority for Musk and his team.
