Tesla drivers using iPhones now have a convenient new feature at their fingertips — the ability to check their car’s charging status without even unlocking their device. Thanks to a recent app update, Live Activities support has been added to iOS, allowing key charging information to be displayed directly on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island.
This feature is compatible with iPhones running iOS 17.2 or later, and it kicks in as soon as Supercharging begins. Users will be able to see details such as battery level, charging speed, and estimated time remaining, all updating in real-time while the charging session is active.
What makes this update particularly noteworthy is that it marks the first time Tesla has utilized Apple’s Live Activities tool, which was originally introduced with iOS 16.1 to enable apps to display live updates for various purposes, such as food delivery or sports scores. Now, Tesla owners with newer iPhones, including the iPhone 14 Pro and above, can enjoy the same quick-glance convenience during charging sessions.
The update was rolled out on May 27 as part of Tesla’s ongoing efforts to enhance app functionality for Apple users. This latest development comes just in time for Tesla’s anticipated June launch of Robotaxi services. Being able to see Live Activities on the iPhone lock screen is a feature that is already familiar to users of ridesharing apps like Uber, adding to the overall user experience.
Overall, this update represents another step forward in Tesla’s commitment to providing innovative and user-friendly features for its customers. With the integration of Live Activities support on iOS devices, Tesla drivers can now stay informed and in control of their charging sessions with greater ease and convenience.
