Tesla has officially made a significant announcement in Europe by opening up its Superchargers to fleet cards. This move aims to address a major issue faced by company car drivers and streamline the charging process for them.
According to a post by Tesla Charging on X, the Tesla wallet is now accessible to third-party payment providers in Europe. Currently, 34 charge card providers are live in the Tesla App in European countries, with more than 40 additional providers expected to be added in the coming weeks. This development allows drivers to link their employer-issued fleet cards, such as DKV, WEX, or UTA, directly to their Tesla account. As a result, they can enjoy seamless Supercharging that is automatically billed to their fleet managers.
The supported providers include a diverse range of companies, with 10 key partners confirmed in the initial rollout. These partners cover fleet operators, roaming networks, OEM services, and regional providers, ensuring a comprehensive coverage of Europe’s charging card ecosystem in one convenient location.
In addition to this announcement, Tesla has recently introduced MID-certified Wall Connectors for businesses. These Wall Connectors enable employees to charge their vehicles at home and have the amount of electricity used automatically reported, simplifying the charging process further.
The new payment method integration process is straightforward and user-friendly. By following a few simple steps in the Tesla App, drivers can easily add their charge card details and make it their default payment method for charging. This eliminates the need for drivers to skip Superchargers or go through the hassle of submitting detailed receipts for reimbursement.
It’s important to note that this initiative is distinct from the Tesla Multipass, which allows users to pay for third-party charging using their Tesla Account, eliminating the need for a separate charging fob or card.
With these recent developments, Tesla has solidified its business-oriented ecosystem in Europe, offering a complete solution for charging needs. The combination of home charging with automated reimbursement, Supercharging with direct billing through fleet cards, and access to non-Tesla chargers via MultiPass ensures a seamless and efficient charging experience for European fleets.
