Tesla has rolled out a new software update, version 2024.45.32, introducing a feature called “Trailer Profiles” that aims to enhance the towing experience for drivers. This new feature allows users to save up to 20 different trailer configurations, including important details like trailer mileage and type (open or enclosed). By inputting this information, the car can better estimate energy consumption while towing, ultimately optimizing the driving experience.
Although Tesla’s advanced “Vision” systems are in place, automatic detection of trailer types is not yet available, so users will need to manually input and switch between profiles. Despite this minor inconvenience, the Trailer Profiles feature represents a significant step forward in making Tesla vehicles more towing-friendly.
In addition to the Trailer Profiles feature, the software update also includes other notable enhancements. Navigation settings now offer route preferences, such as “prioritize highway” and “prioritize time,” giving drivers more control over their driving experience. Furthermore, Tesla users in China will be pleased to find three new Tencent game icons added to their entertainment options, enhancing the overall in-car experience.
This latest update builds on Tesla’s commitment to improving the towing experience for drivers. In November, the company made it easier for users to locate trailer-friendly Supercharger stations directly on their in-car maps, further enhancing convenience for those hauling trailers.
While the Trailer Profiles feature is not fully automated, it represents a positive step towards making Tesla vehicles more towing-friendly. As Tesla continues to refine its software, users can expect to see further improvements in the future. Who knows, maybe a “Bike Hitch” mode will be the next feature on the horizon. Stay tuned for more updates as Tesla continues to innovate and improve its software offerings.
