Tesla has recently announced that the price of its Windshield Protection Plan for the Model 3 and Model Y will be increasing in the coming year. This update was first noticed by longtime Tesla observer Sawyer Merritt, who shared a screenshot of the official email sent out to customers.
According to the message from Tesla, starting January 1, 2026, the monthly subscription fee for the Windshield Protection Plan for the Model 3 will be raised from $12 to $16. The company assures customers that all other benefits and coverage details of the plan will remain unchanged.
The Windshield Protection Plan includes one free front windshield replacement every 12 months, along with unlimited chip and minor crack repairs. Additional full windshield replacements will incur a $100 deductible per incident.
Currently, the monthly subscription fee for the Windshield Protection Plan is $12 for the Model 3 and Model Y, $15 for the Model S, $23 for the Model X, and $35 for the Cybertruck. This subscription can be easily accessed through the Tesla app.
In addition to the Windshield Protection Plan, Tesla has also introduced other à-la-carte service subscriptions this year, such as a monthly wheel and tire protection plan for its electric vehicles. These offerings provide owners with a way to manage repair costs without having to pay upfront.
It is important to note that the price increase for the Model 3 and Model Y Windshield Protection Plan is confirmed for now. It is yet to be seen whether similar changes will be implemented for the Model S, Model X, or Cybertruck subscriptions heading into 2026.
As Tesla continues to expand its service offerings and provide additional benefits to its customers, it is essential for owners to stay informed about any upcoming changes to subscription plans. Keep an eye out for further updates and announcements from Tesla regarding its service subscriptions.
