Tesla Enthusiast Constructs Personalized ‘Supercharger’ at Home
With Tesla’s expansive Supercharging network rapidly expanding worldwide, one Tesla owner has taken it a step further by installing a custom Supercharger right in their own home. Although it may look like a typical public charging stall, there’s a twist to this innovative setup.
Twitter user @NestorLRamos recently shared images of their homemade “Supercharger,” which features a standard Level 2 charger cleverly installed inside a Supercharger body. While it may not offer the lightning-fast charging speeds of a real Supercharger, it provides a convenient charging solution for daily residential use, delivering 11.5 kWh of power.
Despite the lack of official support from Tesla for this DIY project, the Tesla community is buzzing with curiosity about how to acquire a similar Supercharger body. The iconic white-and-red shells of the v2 and v3 Superchargers add a unique touch to any charging setup.
While traditional Superchargers are typically reserved for high-speed public stations, this home-built version adds a touch of authenticity to any driveway. The aesthetic appeal of having a genuine Supercharger replica at home is undeniable.
What are your thoughts on this creative home charging solution? Would you opt for a Supercharger shell in your garage, or are you content with a standard Wall Connector?
