Tesla has recently released an exciting new update for its Robotaxi app, bringing it to version 25.7.6 (build 6041) on iOS. This update introduces a range of quality-of-life improvements, with the standout feature being a new adaptive pick-up behavior that enhances the autonomous ride-hailing experience.
One of the most notable changes in this update is the ability for Tesla’s Robotaxis to pick up passengers exactly where they are located, rather than defaulting to a fixed pickup location on the map. Elon Musk himself confirmed this new feature in response to a tweet from user @OwenSparks_, who reported that a Robotaxi pulled up right to them despite the pinned pickup location being further away. This adaptive pick-up behavior significantly improves convenience, especially in real-world scenarios where users may not be standing at a predefined point.
In addition to the new pick-up behavior, the update also includes several other enhancements such as a directional arrow to help users locate their approaching Robotaxi, support for automatic light/dark mode to match system settings, UI design tweaks, and bug fixes. Some users have even noticed additional improvements not listed in the official changelog, such as the app now displaying whether nearby restaurants or venues are open or closed.
This update follows closely on the heels of Tesla expanding its Robotaxi pilot service area in Austin, Texas. Elon Musk has also confirmed that the Robotaxi software will soon be integrated into Tesla’s public Full Self-Driving (FSD) builds. Furthermore, a Tesla Robotaxi test vehicle was recently spotted operating outside of Austin’s geofenced area, hinting at a potential expansion of coverage in the near future.
The updated Tesla Robotaxi app is currently available for testing to those with Early Access to the service. As the pilot program continues to evolve, users can expect further enhancements and improvements to the autonomous ride-hailing experience. Stay tuned for more updates as Tesla’s Robotaxi service continues to make strides in the world of autonomous transportation.
