Tesla has recently unveiled a new, more affordable version of the Cybertruck in the United States. The Tesla Cybertruck Long Range comes with a price tag of $69,990 before additional charges. This new entry-level electric pickup is equipped with a single rear-mounted motor, in contrast to the All-Wheel Drive version that features two electric motors.
One of the standout features of the Cybertruck Long Range is its impressive estimated range of 362 miles with the optional soft tonneau cover. Without the tonneau cover, the range is still impressive at 350 miles. However, there are some trade-offs with this more affordable version. The towing capacity is reduced to 7,500 pounds, down from the 11,000 pounds of the All-Wheel Drive version. The payload capacity is also slightly lower at 2,006 pounds.
In terms of performance, the Cybertruck Long Range accelerates from zero to 60 miles per hour in 6.2 seconds, slower than the 4.1 seconds of the AWD version and the 2.6 seconds of the Cyberbeast. Additionally, features like the adaptive air suspension with adjustable ride height settings have been replaced with an adaptive coil spring setup. The base model comes with 18-inch wheels, with 20-inch wheels available as an upgrade for an extra cost.
Inside the Cybertruck Long Range, there are some noticeable differences compared to the higher trim levels. The rear screen is missing, and the front seats are not ventilated, only heated. The audio system features seven speakers, whereas the other versions come with a 15-speaker setup with active noise cancellation. Additionally, the Long Range variant does not come with any household power outlets, requiring owners to use Tesla’s mobile charger and outlet adapter to access 120 volts.
Tesla is currently accepting orders for the Cybertruck Long Range on its website, with a non-refundable $250 order fee and an additional $1,995 for the destination fee. The starting price of $69,990 can potentially be reduced to $64,735 with the $7,500 federal tax credit for electric vehicles. Overall, the Cybertruck Long Range offers a more affordable option for those looking to experience the innovation and performance of Tesla’s electric vehicles.
