It has been over a year since the Tesla Cybertruck hit the market, and it is still facing issues that necessitate recalls.
The latest recall affects 46,096 electric pickup trucks and focuses on the stainless steel exterior trim pieces. According to the NHTSA, the cant rail trim piece is at risk of falling off, posing a safety hazard to other drivers on the road.
Documents related to the recall reveal that the stainless steel cant rail trim piece is attached with structural adhesive to an electrocoated steel stamping. However, the adhesive has not been sufficient, leading to the separation of the trim piece under certain conditions. Drivers may notice unusual noises or see the part shifting out of position if this occurs.

Tesla has assured the NHTSA that there have been no reports of accidents, fatalities, or injuries related to these detached trim pieces. The automaker first became aware of the issue through a field report, which was later confirmed by service records and social media posts describing loose or separated cant rail panels.
Tesla service centers will reattach the cant rail assembly using a different structural adhesive, reinforced with a stud welded to the stainless steel panel and a nut clamping the panel to the vehicle’s structure. This service will be provided free of charge.

The Cybertruck has had a total of eight recalls so far, making it a challenging model for Tesla. While some recalls have affected other Tesla electric vehicles, the Cybertruck has faced unique issues such as trapped accelerator pedals and inverter faults. In a previous recall, 11,383 trucks were recalled due to loose bed frame rail panels.
