Tesla’s Cybertruck has recently been awarded a five-star overall safety rating by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), solidifying its position as one of the safest vehicles in its class. This rating comes after a series of rigorous crash tests that evaluated the truck’s performance in frontal, side, and rollover scenarios.
During the frontal crash tests, the Cybertruck showcased impressive protection levels, earning a five-star rating for the driver’s side and a four-star rating for the front passenger. The vehicle excelled in side-impact testing, achieving a perfect five-star rating for both front and rear seats in side barrier and side pole crash simulations. These tests replicate real-world collisions at intersections and impacts with stationary objects like trees or poles.
The Cybertruck also demonstrated strong rollover resistance, with a four-star rating and a measured rollover risk of 12.4 percent. Particularly noteworthy was the truck’s performance in the dynamic tip test, where it displayed exceptional stability and did not tip over, indicating its ability to maintain control in loss-of-control situations.
The official Cybertruck account on X wasted no time in sharing the results from the NHTSA’s tests, showcasing the vehicle’s impressive safety performance. Additionally, the Cybertruck meets the NHTSA’s stringent safety technology standards, including features like forward collision warning, lane departure warning, crash imminent braking, and dynamic brake support. It is also worth noting that there are currently no recalls, investigations, or consumer complaints reported for the 2025 model.
Despite initial skepticism surrounding its stainless steel exoskeleton and unconventional design, the Cybertruck’s latest safety ratings underscore Tesla’s steadfast commitment to durability and passenger protection. This five-star rating places the Cybertruck in the same league as Tesla’s other vehicles, all of which have consistently scored highly in safety evaluations.
Several Tesla models, including the Model 3, Model S, Model X, and Model Y, have all received five-star safety ratings in various categories, further solidifying Tesla’s reputation for producing safe and reliable vehicles. With the Cybertruck now joining this elite safety club, Tesla continues to set the benchmark for safety in the automotive industry.
