Tesla discontinues Cybertruck RWD just months after launch
Tesla has quietly discontinued the Cybertruck Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) variant, removing it from the online configurator in the United States less than six months after its debut. The electric automaker made the decision to discontinue the RWD version of the Cybertruck, priced at US$69,990 before incentives, or $62,490 with incentives, due to low demand and production constraints.
The Cybertruck RWD was unveiled in a grand event by Tesla CEO Elon Musk in November last year, and it was expected to be a popular choice among consumers looking for an electric pickup truck with a long range and rear-wheel drive capability. However, it seems that the demand for this particular configuration did not meet expectations, leading Tesla to discontinue it.
Despite the discontinuation of the RWD variant, Tesla still offers the Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive and Tri Motor All-Wheel Drive versions of the Cybertruck, which come with higher price tags but offer more power and range compared to the now-discontinued RWD model.
With the rapid advancements in electric vehicle technology and the increasing competition in the electric pickup truck segment, Tesla is constantly evaluating its product lineup to ensure that it meets the needs and demands of consumers. The decision to discontinue the Cybertruck RWD is a strategic move by Tesla to focus on more popular configurations and optimize production efficiency.
While some customers may be disappointed by the discontinuation of the RWD variant, Tesla remains committed to delivering innovative and high-quality electric vehicles that push the boundaries of technology and sustainability. The electric automaker continues to expand its product lineup and improve its manufacturing processes to meet the growing demand for electric vehicles worldwide.
Overall, the discontinuation of the Cybertruck RWD is a reflection of Tesla’s commitment to adapt to market trends and consumer preferences, ensuring that the company remains at the forefront of the electric vehicle industry.
