Tesla has rolled out a new OTA update enabling 325kW charging at its V4 Superchargers, exclusively for the Cybertruck. This upgrade was initially tested in December 2024 and is now available across North America.
The V4 Superchargers feature longer cables, making it easier for the Cybertruck to charge. While V3 posts are still common, Tesla is working on upgrading older sites with V4 hardware, which now make up 14% of the Supercharger network.
The new 325kW peak speed reduces charge times by about 5 minutes, bringing the 0-80% charge speed down to just 35 minutes. This update was delivered via an OTA update to the Superchargers, showcasing Tesla’s efficiency in software updates.
Cybertruck owners can easily locate 325kW chargers through their touchscreen and prioritize these faster chargers. Tesla is also working on V4 cabinets to further upgrade the Cybertruck’s peak charging speed to 500kW.
While Tesla continues to improve charging speeds and features, some competitors are already surpassing Tesla’s Supercharger speeds. Despite this, Tesla’s vast network of Superchargers and reliability make up for any shortcomings in charging speed.
Overall, Tesla’s focus remains on providing good charging speeds while maintaining battery health and affordability. The company’s commitment to innovation and efficiency in charging infrastructure sets it apart in the electric vehicle market.
