California-based Telo Trucks Lowers Base Price for MT1 Electric Pickup
California-based Telo Trucks announced on Tuesday that its space-efficient MT1 electric pickup will now have a lower base price. The company initially revealed the MT1 in 2023, stating that it would launch in dual-motor all-wheel-drive form at a cost of $49,999 before incentives. However, the truck’s configurator is now live, showing a single-motor rear-wheel-drive base model with a starting price of $41,520.

The base MT1 boasts 300 hp and an estimated 260 miles of range from its Standard battery pack. For an additional $3,980, customers can opt for the Long Range pack, providing over 350 miles of range. The 500-hp dual-motor powertrain is available for $4,769, offering maximum payload and towing capacities of 1,600 pounds and 6,600 pounds, respectively.
Telo has not confirmed the capacity of the Standard pack, but previously stated that the Long Range pack would have a 106-kwh capacity. With the larger pack, the MT1 is expected to regain 210 miles of range in just 20 minutes during DC fast-charging sessions.

Telo is currently accepting reservations for $152, which is the length of the vehicle in inches. Despite being the same length as the outgoing Mini Cooper SE two-door hatchback, the MT1 can accommodate five adults and features a 60-inch bed, larger than the one found in a Rivian R1T. The inclusion of a midgate allows for the transportation of long objects like a 9-foot surfboard or a 4×8 sheet of plywood behind the front seats.
With 3,700 reservations already secured, Telo aims to host a press launch event in early 2025. However, the company is aware that transitioning from showcasing an appealing small electric pickup to actual production, as demonstrated by Canoo and Alpha Motors, poses its own set of challenges.
