Tesla has once again solidified its position as the frontrunner in automotive technology, as evidenced by JD Power’s latest survey results. Despite not being eligible for official awards, Tesla outshone traditional automakers like Volkswagen with a commanding score that was more than double the competition.
JD Power’s 2025 U.S. Tech Experience Index (TXI) Study collected feedback from over 76,000 owners of new 2025 model-year vehicles. In a decade-long tradition, Tesla emerged as the clear winner with an impressive rating of 873 out of 1,000 points. This score far surpassed industry veterans like Volkswagen and Toyota, which scored 432 and 436 points respectively.
Following closely behind Tesla was Rivian, with an impressive score of 730 points. However, both Tesla and Rivian were deemed ineligible for awards by JD Power due to not meeting certain criteria. This led to Genesis being officially awarded the top rank with a score of 538, followed by Cadillac and Lincoln with scores of 526 and 523 respectively.
The survey also revealed valuable insights from drivers regarding technology-related issues. Drivers reported a decrease of 6.3 problems per 100 vehicles compared to the previous year, indicating an overall improvement in user experience. Automatic climate control was highlighted as a favorite feature for its seamless management of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.
Kathleen Rizk, senior director of technology at JD Power, emphasized the importance of smart technology in anticipating driver needs and reducing cognitive workload. However, some features like car wash mode faced criticism for their placement within infotainment menus, causing frustration among users. On the other hand, the blind spot camera received widespread praise, with a majority of drivers expressing interest in having it in future vehicles.
Overall, Tesla’s dominance in JD Power’s survey underscores its commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction in the ever-evolving automotive technology landscape. As the industry continues to push boundaries, Tesla remains at the forefront of technological advancements, setting a high standard for its competitors to follow.
