Air France has recently launched complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi across its fleet, powered by SpaceX’s Starlink. This service was first announced in the autumn of 2024 and is now live on select aircraft, with plans for rapid expansion in the coming months.
The airline has equipped two Embraer 190 jets, two Airbus A220 carriers, and an Airbus A350 with Starlink Wi-Fi. By the end of 2025, Air France aims to have 30% of its fleet equipped with the service, with a full rollout across its global fleet expected by the end of 2026.
Passengers can now enjoy fast, stable, and secure internet service for free in all travel cabins. To connect, travelers simply need to log in with their Flying Blue account or create one onboard. The service supports multiple devices and allows passengers to stream video, play online games, stay updated with real-time news, or stay connected with friends and family while flying at 35,000 feet.
Air France’s move to offer free high-speed Wi-Fi across its fleet positions it as the first major European airline to do so, marking a significant step in its effort to enhance the passenger experience. The partnership with Starlink also highlights the rapid adoption of the service in the aviation industry.
SpaceX’s Starlink internet service has already been embraced by several airlines, with more expected to follow suit. Alaska Airlines is planning to offer free Starlink Wi-Fi in 2026, while SpaceX is reportedly in advanced discussions with British Airways, Saudi Arabia’s flagship carrier, and Emirates.
With millions of users already benefiting from Starlink on the ground, the in-flight market presents a significant growth opportunity for SpaceX. Air France’s collaboration with Starlink, along with other major airlines showing interest, demonstrates SpaceX’s increasing presence as a leading provider of next-generation airline connectivity.
