SpaceX’s Starlink has introduced a new low-cost plan called “Roam 10GB,” specifically designed for light use during emergencies or weekend travel. This new option, which was launched recently, offers 10GB of data for just $15 CAD/month ($10 in the USA), providing users with a reliable backup internet option in case their primary connection goes down.
The Roam 10GB plan is intended for short-term use, typically enough for a day of regular internet activity. Users who exceed their data limit can easily purchase additional data on a pay-per-gigabyte basis through their Starlink account. This plan includes nationwide coverage, in-motion use, international roaming, and connectivity along coastlines, making it a convenient solution for staying connected during power outages or off-grid travel.
To activate the Roam 10GB plan, users simply need to log in to their Starlink account, go to “Subscriptions,” select their service line, and choose “Activate Service” under the Roam 10GB option. This simple process ensures that users can quickly access this affordable backup internet service when needed.
In addition to the new plan announcement, SpaceX recently launched 23 Starlink satellites into orbit on March 18th. The deployment, which was carried out by a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida, included 13 satellites equipped with Direct-to-Cell capabilities, further expanding the reach and capabilities of the Starlink network.
Overall, the introduction of the Roam 10GB plan and the ongoing expansion of the Starlink satellite network demonstrate SpaceX’s commitment to providing reliable and affordable internet access to users, both in times of need and during everyday use. This innovative approach to connectivity is helping to bridge the digital divide and ensure that individuals can stay connected no matter where they are located.
