Starlink Slashes Prices in Canada, Offering Steep Discounts on Hardware and Subscriptions
Starlink, the satellite internet provider owned by SpaceX, is making waves in Canada by slashing prices on its hardware and subscription plans. The company is offering one of its steepest discounts yet in an effort to expand its subscriber base north of the border.
According to an email sent to Canadians, Starlink is now selling its Standard Kit for just $249 CAD, down from $599, marking a $350 discount. In addition to the hardware price cut, Starlink is also offering discounted Residential plans for the first year in select regions. The standard Residential plan is now $115 CAD/month, compared to the previous price of $140, while the Residential Lite plan is now $90 CAD/month, down from $110. Regular rates will resume after the first year. The discounted Standard Kit is also available for purchase through Best Buy.
This move follows a similar promotion launched earlier in the month in the U.S., where the cost of the dish was halved nationwide and discounted monthly plans were introduced for new customers. In Canada, this discount comes on the heels of Starlink surpassing 500,000 subscribers last month, indicating that SpaceX is looking to further accelerate growth in areas with excess capacity.
Starlink dishes are designed for durability, built to withstand Canada’s harsh weather conditions. The latest generation kits can melt snow, withstand winds of up to 160+ kph, and operate in temperatures ranging from -40°C to 43°C. Starlink boasts a 99.9% average uptime on its network, even during heavy rain, snow, and natural disasters.
Customer testimonials highlight the reliability of Starlink during inclement weather. Rose L. from Minesing, Ontario, stated, “Like many rural families, our biggest frustration was internet access… That changed when we switched to Starlink.”
In addition to the hardware and subscription discounts, Starlink recently introduced “Standby Mode” for paused plans in both Canada and the U.S. This feature allows users to maintain unlimited, low-speed connectivity for emergency communications or software updates for a small monthly fee.
With promotions like these, Starlink is solidifying its position as a weather-resilient and high-speed internet solution for rural Canadians, offering a strong alternative where traditional internet infrastructure falls short. To order your Starlink dish today, click here.
