It has been almost two years since Volkswagen’s Scout Motors revealed plans for a $2 billion factory in South Carolina and started to unveil its electric SUV lineup. However, customers will have to wait another two years before these models hit the roads.
Based on the concept versions of Traveler SUV and Terra pickup showcased last fall, with starting prices below $60,000, Scout has outlined its brand’s key features.
Scout’s trucks will feature a blend of retro styling inspired by classic International Harvester SUVs and modern technology. The brand promises to incorporate DIY simplicity, making it easy for owners to maintain and repair their vehicles.

On the technological front, Scout will feature a new infotainment system called Community UX, along with a zonal architecture and software-defined vehicle foundation developed in partnership with Rivian. This collaboration opens up opportunities for innovative features and streamlined operations.
Green Car Reports recently spoke with Scout Motors’ CTO Burkhard Huhnke at CES, where he shared insights into the brand’s vision, technology, and upcoming models.
