Renault has unveiled the interior of the upcoming 2026 Twingo E-Tech electric city car, and it’s a mix of modernity and nostalgia. The exterior design of the Twingo E-Tech pays homage to the original 1990s Twingo, with its distinctive body shape and stylized LED headlights and rear lights. The addition of rear doors hidden in the C-pillars gives the car a three-door hatch appearance at first glance.
The interior of the Twingo E-Tech, however, is a departure from the original’s no-frills design. It features a 10.1-inch central display and a 7-inch screen in front of the driver, similar to the Renault 5 E-Tech’s interior. While the interior lacks the quirky charm of the original Twingo, it offers comfort and practicality with seats that hark back to the original design and body-colored trim pieces that add a touch of style.
One standout feature of the Twingo E-Tech is its versatile rear bench that folds to enlarge the trunk and slides to increase rear legroom. The car also comes with a panoramic glass roof that enhances the interior ambiance. Renault aims to launch the Twingo E-Tech in 2026 with a target base price of under €20,000 ($20,500), positioning it as a more affordable alternative to the 5 E-Tech in the Renault lineup.
Despite its departure from the original Twingo’s interior design, the Twingo E-Tech still retains its unique charm and eye-catching design. If Renault can keep the production model true to the prototype and maintain an attractive price point, the Twingo E-Tech is poised to be a hit among city car buyers. With its blend of modern features and nostalgic design elements, the Twingo E-Tech offers a fresh take on a classic model that is sure to turn heads on European roads.
