Honda’s Acura RSX: A Game-Changer in the EV Revolution
Honda has finally made its move in the electric vehicle market with the launch of the Acura RSX. After facing criticism for being slow to enter the EV space, Honda is confident that the RSX will propel its luxury arm to the forefront of the EV revolution.
The Acura RSX is the first vehicle to be built on Honda’s new software-defined EV architecture, which will also be used in the upcoming Honda 0 Series. This new platform promises a revolutionary software experience, featuring a new driver assistance suite, digital assistant, personalization features, and over-the-air updates powered by AI.
Equipped with dual-motor all-wheel drive, Brembo front brakes, and double-wishbone front suspension, the RSX is designed to deliver a high-performance driving experience. However, key details such as weight, power, acceleration times, battery size, and range are still under wraps, leaving enthusiasts eager for more information.
The RSX will be manufactured in Ohio, using existing gas car production lines, allowing Honda to adapt quickly to changing market demands. This strategy aims to avoid the pitfalls of overspending on incentives, as seen with the ZDX, Honda’s previous electric model.
The new platform of the RSX will support vehicle-to-load power exporting and feature Tesla-style North American Charging System (NACS) plugs, ensuring compatibility with Superchargers. With a planned release in the second half of 2026, Honda aims to deliver a mature and competitive product in the EV market.
As Honda takes its first steps into the electric era, the success of the Acura RSX will be a litmus test of the company’s EV strategy. Will Honda’s patience pay off, or will it be playing catch-up with more established competitors? Only time will tell.
