- The Volvo EX30’s U.S. arrival was delayed due to tariffs
- Volvo’s now said the EX30 will arrive before the end of the year
- The first EX30s to arrive in the U.S. will be $46,195 dual-motor models
After facing delays due to increased tariffs, the Volvo EX30 small electric crossover is finally making its way to the U.S. and is expected to arrive by the end of this year.
Initially revealed in 2023, the EX30 was supposed to hit U.S. dealerships earlier this summer. However, Volvo announced in June that the deliveries would be postponed until 2025. Recently, the automaker reversed this decision, stating that it would prioritize fulfilling U.S. customer preorders to meet the demand as soon as possible.

The initial deliveries will consist of the dual-motor all-wheel-drive models, which are the most requested by customers. The starting price for these dual-motor models remains at $46,195 along with a $1,295 destination charge. The single-motor variant, which was previously priced at $36,245 for the U.S. market, will be available later in 2025.
All U.S. models will be equipped with a 69-kwh nickel cobalt manganese (NMC) battery pack, expected to offer 253 miles of range in dual-motor models based on the EPA testing cycle. While a 51-kwh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack will be an entry-level option in other markets, the EX30 is set to be one of the most affordable EVs in the U.S. even with the NMC pack.

In 2023, Volvo announced plans to shift EX30 production from China to Ghent, Belgium, starting in 2025. However, due to the increased tariffs on Chinese-made EVs by the Biden Administration, the U.S. launch of the EX30 was delayed to allow the Belgian plant to ramp up production.
On the other end of the price spectrum, the Volvo EX90 three-row electric SUV is now being produced at Volvo’s factory in Charleston, South Carolina, alongside the Polestar 3. While there are no current plans to manufacture the EX30 in South Carolina, Volvo continues to expand its electric vehicle lineup.
