The Polestar 3 electric SUV is set to receive an upgraded chipset for its second model year, as confirmed by the automaker in a recent press release.
Scheduled to debut in showrooms later in the 2025 calendar year, the 2026 Polestar 3 will be the first of the brand’s EVs to be equipped with the Nvidia Drive AGX Orin processor, a more advanced successor to the Drive AGX Xavier processor that the SUV initially launched with.

Along with being integrated into newly manufactured vehicles, the more powerful processor will also be offered as a complimentary upgrade to existing Polestar 3 owners. Volvo, the parent brand, has recently announced a similar initiative for owners of the EX90 electric SUV, which shares the same SPA2 architecture with the Polestar 3.
It is uncommon for an automaker to update hardware post-sale instead of solely focusing on software updates.
Volvo has stated that the enhanced computing capabilities of the Drive AGX Orin will support AI-based features, more advanced safety technologies, a variety of onboard sensors, and a more efficient battery management system. This is likely to be the case for the Polestar 3 and any future Polestar models utilizing this chipset.

2026 Polestar 3 Plug & Charge
The 2025 Polestar 3, manufactured in Charleston, South Carolina, was introduced as a sportier, two-row alternative to the three-row Volvo EX90, both sharing the same platform. All variants are equipped with a 111-kWh battery pack, offering up to 350 miles of range in the base single-motor rear-wheel-drive configuration.
Polestar has not yet provided a specific timeline for updating existing 2025 models but has assured customers that they will be notified when the new chips are available. Installation will be carried out at Polestar-authorized service centers, which are managed by franchised dealerships as part of the brand’s hybrid business model, even though Polestar does not directly sell cars through them.
