Polestar, a leading electric vehicle manufacturer, has made a significant announcement that will revolutionize the charging experience for its customers. The company has secured access to over 17,800 Tesla Superchargers in the United States and Canada, providing its EV owners with the ability to charge at the world’s most extensive EV charging network.
In addition to this milestone achievement, Polestar has revealed plans to integrate Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS) into its future vehicles. This integration will eliminate the need for an adapter, making the charging process even more seamless for Polestar owners.
The news of Polestar EVs gaining access to the Tesla Supercharger Network was confirmed in a press release issued by the company. Adapters that enable Supercharger access will be available at Polestar’s Service Points and are expected to be delivered by mid-November.
Anders Gustafsson, Head of Polestar North America, expressed his enthusiasm about the company’s newfound access to the Supercharger Network. He emphasized that by offering customers access to the Tesla Supercharger network, Polestar is enhancing the ownership experience by providing more charging options and greater convenience. With the adoption of the Tesla NACS standard and the availability of approximately 10,000 CCS DC fast chargers, Polestar customers now have access to nearly 27,800 DC fast chargers, boosting their confidence in charging on the go.
Furthermore, Polestar will update its in-car Google Maps to display all available charging points, making it easier for owners to locate and utilize charging stations. Tesla Supercharger access will be available in all three current Polestar vehicles, further enhancing the charging infrastructure for Polestar owners.
Polestar’s decision to adopt the Tesla NACS standard follows in the footsteps of other major automakers such as Ford, Rivian, Aptera, and General Motors, who have also gained access to the Tesla Supercharger network. This move underscores Polestar’s commitment to providing its customers with the most expansive and reliable charging network available.
The integration of Tesla’s NACS into Polestar’s future vehicles was first announced in June 2023, with the expectation that Supercharger access would be available earlier this year. Despite some delays in the timeline, Polestar has successfully secured access to the Tesla Supercharger network, marking a significant milestone for the company and its customers.
Overall, Polestar’s collaboration with Tesla and the integration of the NACS standard into its vehicles represent a significant step forward in the electrification of transportation. By leveraging Tesla’s extensive charging infrastructure, Polestar is enhancing the overall ownership experience for its customers and further solidifying its position as a leader in the electric vehicle market.
