Parenting and pregnancy resource firm BabyCenter recently released its 2024 Best Car Awards, based on a survey conducted with parents about their vehicle preferences. The survey included around 500 U.S.-based parents aged 18-54 who currently drive a vehicle from model year 1999 or newer. The respondents were asked about their children’s ages, the number and types of car seats in their vehicle, and the features they value the most in a car.
Despite only 3% of the respondents currently driving an electric vehicle, the Tesla Model Y emerged as the top choice among electric vehicles. BabyCenter noted that the Model Y is a premium vehicle starting at around $45,000 before incentives, but it is well-equipped to accommodate three or more car seats depending on the seating configuration. The company praised the Model Y for its utility and robust set of passive and active safety features, including Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, and standard Autopilot.
BabyCenter also highlighted several EV-specific features in the Model Y that make it ideal for families. The vehicle’s large battery not only provides ample driving range but also ensures that children are comfortable in the cabin regardless of the weather or if the vehicle is in motion.
Although the Model Y may not be Tesla’s fastest or most technologically advanced vehicle, it offers a balanced combination of safety, utility, performance, and tech at a reasonable price. This has made the Model Y Tesla’s best-selling vehicle to date and the best-selling car by volume in 2023.
Overall, the survey results from BabyCenter emphasize the Tesla Model Y as the best electric vehicle for families, highlighting its versatility, safety features, and family-friendly design. It’s clear that the Model Y has become a popular choice among parents looking for a reliable and practical electric vehicle for their family needs.
