Nissan Ariya drivers are in for a treat as the Japanese automaker announced that starting December 10, 2024, they will have access to NACS-compatible Tesla Superchargers. This exciting development will significantly expand the NISSAN ENERGY Charge Network (NECN) and provide Ariya owners with more charging options than ever before.
With the addition of Tesla’s extensive Supercharger Network, Nissan EV drivers will now have access to over 100,000 public chargers in the US and 25,000 in Canada. To take advantage of this new network, Nissan EV owners will need to purchase a North American Charging Standard (NACS) adapter kit, which is available for $235 on NissanUSA.com.
Looking ahead, Nissan plans to incorporate NACS ports directly into their electric vehicles, starting in 2025 for both the US and Canadian markets. This move will further streamline the charging process for Ariya owners and make it even more convenient to charge their vehicles on the go.
The MyNISSAN app will play a crucial role in this process, allowing users to easily find available chargers, check their charging status, and pay for their charging sessions all in one place. This app will make it easier than ever for Ariya owners to stay charged and on the move.
In addition to Tesla’s Supercharger Network, the NECN also partners with other charging networks in both the US and Canada. In the US, Nissan Ariya owners can access charging stations from Electrify America, Shell Recharge, ChargePoint, and EVgo. In Canada, charging options include ChargeHub, Shell Recharge, FLO, Chargepoint, Circuit Electrique, BC Hydro, and the IVY network.
Tesla had previously teased support for Nissan electric vehicles on their Supercharger Network, but it was clarified that this support would be rolled out before the end of 2024. With this latest development, Nissan Ariya owners can look forward to seamless charging experiences and the convenience of accessing Tesla’s Supercharger Network.
Overall, the integration of NACS-compatible Tesla Superchargers into the NECN is a significant step forward for Nissan and its electric vehicle lineup. As the demand for electric vehicles continues to grow, initiatives like this will play a crucial role in expanding the charging infrastructure and making electric vehicles more accessible and convenient for drivers everywhere.
