Tesla Cybertruck B-Pillar Camera Recording Coming Soon to Sentry Mode
With the recent rollout of B-pillar camera recording for Sentry Mode and Dashcam in the Spring Update, Tesla Cybertruck owners were left wondering why their vehicle was initially excluded from this feature.
This new feature, which requires AI4, allows the Cybertruck to record from two additional cameras when Sentry Mode is activated, bringing the total number of recorded cameras to six. The exclusion of the Cybertruck from the initial launch of this feature raised questions, especially considering the vehicle’s advanced technology.
After months of speculation, Siddhant Awasthi, Cybertruck Program Manager, has provided an official explanation for the delay. According to Siddhant, the unique software and hardware architecture of the Cybertruck required additional engineering effort to implement the B-pillar camera recording feature.
Exciting News for Cybertruck Owners
Fortunately, the wait for this highly requested feature is almost over. Siddhant confirmed that the necessary engineering work has been completed, and the feature is in its final testing stages. It is likely to be included in Tesla’s upcoming update, version 2025.30 or 2025.32.
App Support and High Demand
While all AI4 models will soon support B-pillar camera recording, the Tesla app currently only allows access to video from the existing cameras. However, there are no technical limitations preventing support for the new views, so this functionality is expected to be added soon.
The demand for this feature among Cybertruck owners is high, given the vehicle’s unique design and visibility. The B-pillar cameras play a crucial role in capturing incidents from all angles, providing a comprehensive view of the vehicle’s surroundings.
This official confirmation from Siddhant Awasthi has reassured Cybertruck owners and dispelled concerns about the vehicle’s software development. The anticipation is now focused on the imminent release of Tesla’s next major update.
