Mercedes-Benz Unveils Vision V Electric Van Concept
Mercedes-Benz recently announced the name of its highly anticipated electric van concept – the Vision V. Set to be officially unveiled later this spring, the Vision V will showcase Mercedes’ innovative Van.EA modular architecture for future electric vans.
The first vans utilizing this advanced architecture are slated for production in 2026, with Mercedes already conducting prototype testing. The Vision V will offer a range of configurations, including a luxurious electric van destined for the U.S. market and a potential RV, in addition to standard passenger and cargo van options.
Unlike the current eSprinter model, which retrofits an electric powertrain into a traditional van design, the Van.EA platform was specifically engineered to accommodate electric vehicles with exceptional modularity. Featuring three main blocks, the platform allows for various motor configurations, including front-wheel drive setups for single or dual-motor options.
Initially planning to base all future vans on the Van.EA architecture, Mercedes recently introduced an alternative “Van.CA” architecture for internal combustion models. However, both Van.EA and Van.CA will share 70% of components, indicating a seamless integration between electric and traditional models on the assembly line.
