Mercedes-Benz Electric Vehicles to Access 20,000 Tesla Supercharger Stations
In a recent announcement, Mercedes-Benz revealed that starting in February, their electric vehicles will be able to charge at 20,000 Tesla Supercharger stations in the U.S.
Customers will need to visit dealerships for a software update that will enable access to the Superchargers. This update will maintain the plug-and-charge feature in current Mercedes EVs, allowing for easy charging by simply plugging in. The Superchargers will also be integrated into the Mercedes app and infotainment systems.
Adapters for Supercharger access will cost $185 and can be obtained from dealerships. They will be available in the U.S. this quarter, with availability in Canada expected in Q2. Mercedes anticipates that drivers in both countries will have access to approximately 20,000 Supercharger stations.
Mercedes also plans to incorporate Tesla NACS ports into new vehicles for North American markets starting this year. This move aims to increase charging options for EV owners.
Mercedes is part of the Ionna charging network joint venture, which includes seven other automakers. The venture aims to establish 30,000 chargers across North America, with the first site set to open later this year.
