- Mercedes-Benz to Launch All-Electric Versions of Popular Models
- New Electric Models to Offer Variety of Powertrains
- AMG Performance Division to Introduce Electric Vehicles
Mercedes-Benz is gearing up to introduce all-electric versions of three of its top-selling models in the next couple of years.
During the presentation of its 2024 financial results on Thursday, the automaker revealed plans to electrify the C-Class, E-Class, and GLC-Class vehicles as part of a broader initiative to launch numerous new or updated models globally by 2027.
The electrification journey kicks off later this year with the 2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class compact, which will be available in both all-electric and 48-volt mild-hybrid configurations. The upcoming CLA EV is expected to bring significant improvements, including an advanced 800-volt electrical system and enhanced regenerative braking technology.

These enhancements will be shared across other compact models based on the new CLA’s Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture (MMA). The upcoming models are expected to offer various body styles alongside the coupe-like sedan design of the CLA.
While Mercedes has primarily focused on dedicated electric models, the introduction of the CLA EV signifies a shift towards offering multiple powertrain options for the same vehicle. This trend is set to continue with the upcoming C-Class, E-Class, and GLC-Class electric variants.
Mercedes has also announced a series of launches for its AMG performance division, including the debut of electric vehicles based on the new AMG.EA dedicated platform. The first of these high-performance electric models, possibly a fastback sedan, is scheduled to launch this year, followed by an AMG electric SUV.

Furthermore, Mercedes is set to launch its next-generation electric vans in 2026, built on the new Van.EA platform. The automaker has also confirmed plans to develop combustion engine vans on a companion platform.
While Mercedes continues to innovate with electric models, not all upcoming vehicles will be fully electric. The flagship S-Class sedan is due for a significant update next year, with no mention of an electric version. Mercedes’ revised strategy acknowledges the presence of internal combustion engines in its lineup well into the next decade.
