Peter Rawlinson, the former CEO of Lucid Motors, has stepped down from his previous positions at the California-based company. According to a press release, Rawlinson will now serve as a senior technical advisor to the chairman of the board at Lucid, while Marc Winterhoff, the COO, has been appointed as the interim CEO.
Rawlinson’s tenure at Lucid has been marked by significant technological advancements, particularly in the realm of propulsion efficiency. Under his leadership, Lucid became the first automaker to achieve over 500 miles of EPA-rated range without a disproportionately large battery pack, surpassing even Tesla in this aspect.

In a statement, Rawlinson expressed his pride in the accomplishments of the Lucid team during his twelve-year tenure with the company. He joined Atieva, Lucid’s parent company, in 2013 as the chief technology officer before assuming the role of CEO in 2019.
Despite facing financial challenges, Rawlinson’s engineering expertise and strategic decisions were instrumental in steering Lucid towards success. His contributions, such as the development of the 900+ volt technology and the Formula E battery packs, have been pivotal in shaping Lucid’s technological prowess.
The company is currently in search of a new CEO to lead Lucid into its next phase of growth and development.
