Lucid Motors Recalls Air Pure Models for Power Loss Issue
Lucid Motors is recalling 1,539 Air Pure models, the base version of its electric sedan, due to an issue that could result in a complete loss of drive power. The recall, announced by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), pertains to 2024 and 2025 Lucid Air Pure electric vehicles.
The recall addresses a rear subframe wiring harness that may be too short, leading to strain on the electrical connection and causing loss of power to the sole drive unit in these single-motor rear-wheel-drive vehicles. If this issue occurs, drivers may experience a loss of propulsion and dashboard warning messages.
Lucid initiated the recall after investigating multiple reports of power loss in Air Pure models. The remedy involves the replacement of the affected wiring harnesses with ones of the correct length, to be carried out by Lucid service centers at no cost to owners. Owner notification letters will be mailed out on December 20, 2024.
Owners can also contact Lucid’s customer service department at 1-888-995-8243 with reference to recall number SR-24-05-0. The rear-wheel-drive Lucid Air Pure model has been known for offering impressive range and competitive pricing compared to other electric sedans.
