Tesla has officially announced the end of Model S and Model X production in an email sent out on Friday. The email confirmed that there is a limited inventory of these luxury electric vehicles still available with the automaker.
The email stated that Model S and Model X played a significant role in kickstarting the transition to electric transportation worldwide. These vehicles also served as a platform for Tesla to develop the technology that would pave the way for autonomous driving. As Tesla moves towards this autonomous future, production of Model S and Model X will be coming to a close.
Customers who are interested in purchasing these iconic vehicles can browse through the limited inventory available on Tesla’s website. The company has already ceased production of Model S and X at its Fremont factory, and the existing inventory is expected to meet the demand for these electric vehicles.
Earlier this year, Tesla had announced the discontinuation of Model S and X production, with the scheduled end date being the 2nd quarter. In line with this decision, Tesla has set a deadline for ordering Model S or X in South Korea by March 31st. For customers in the US, Tesla is offering both slightly used and new vehicles from its inventory.
Tesla is also providing significant discounts on inventory vehicles, ranging from $1-4K for slightly used vehicles with low mileage. New vehicles in the inventory are not discounted. The online car configurator on Tesla’s website shows that the Lunar Silver Metallic paint color is completely sold out. The company is matching new custom orders with existing configurations in the inventory to fulfill customer requirements.
In addition to discounts, Tesla is offering free perks on the remaining Model S and X inventory vehicles. These perks include Free Premium Connectivity, Full Self-Driving, Free Supercharging for life, and a Four-Year Premium Service on most inventory vehicles. Some inventory cars also come equipped with the 21″ Velarium Wheels, which are a premium upgrade that would otherwise cost $4,500 if purchased separately.
Before making a purchase, customers are advised to look out for these premium upgrades that they might receive for free with their inventory Model S or Model X. Tesla continues to provide updates on its products and services, and interested individuals can stay informed by following the company on various platforms like Google News, Flipboard, Twitter, WhatsApp, and RSS feeds.
