Startup Lightship introduced its battery-powered travel trailer, now known as the AE.1, at their Broomfield, Colorado facility. Production is set to begin in mid-2025, with the first 50 Cosmos Edition models priced at $250,000. However, tax credits are expected to lower the effective price to $239,900.
The Lightship trailer, unveiled in 2023, uses an 80-kwh battery pack for both appliance power and propulsion. This unique system ensures that EVs towing the trailer maintain their range, while internal-combustion vehicles achieve higher mpg.

The AE.1 trailer offers a quiet and eco-friendly camping experience with features like a solar roof, automotive-grade climate control, and a full kitchen and bathroom. The Cosmos Edition, priced higher than initially announced, will be followed by three additional grades—Atmos, Panos, and Terros.
Other companies, such as Airstream and Colorado Teardrops, are also exploring electric RV options to enhance EV range or boost mpg in traditional vehicles. Lightship is taking reservations for all grades of their innovative travel trailer.
