Tesla is gearing up to unveil its largest Supercharger site in Canada later this month, marking a significant expansion of the company’s fast-charging network in the country.
The new Supercharger station, located in Ajax, Ontario, is set to go live on January 23, boasting an impressive 44 charging stalls. Construction on the site was completed after seven months of work, making it the largest Supercharger installation ever launched by Tesla in Canada.
This site is particularly noteworthy as Tesla continues to introduce its fourth-generation Supercharger hardware. While it has not been confirmed if all 44 stalls will be V4, the company has been steadily rolling out V4 deployments globally. Canada’s first V4 Supercharger was introduced in the Vancouver area in August 2024, following the hardware’s debut in Europe and later in the U.S. Additionally, Tesla recently opened the world’s largest Supercharger station in California, featuring a staggering 164 stalls.
Tesla’s Supercharger network in Canada has been expanding rapidly, with approximately 200 Supercharger locations currently operational nationwide, primarily concentrated in Ontario and British Columbia. As of this week, there are over 2,850 Supercharger stalls available across the country. Furthermore, Tesla has announced plans for aggressive expansion, with more than 50 new Supercharger sites and over 630 additional stalls expected to open in Canada throughout 2025.
The Ajax location was initially listed on Tesla’s map with only 20 stalls, making the confirmed 44-stall build-out a significant upgrade from the original plan. Like other modern Supercharger sites, it will be accessible to non-Tesla electric vehicles that support the North American Charging Standard, including BMW, which gained Supercharger access late last year.
This expansion coincides with Tesla’s ongoing updates to its Canadian lineup, such as the recent launch of the more affordable Model Y Standard and the introduction of the refreshed Model Y Performance trim. With an increasing number of electric vehicles hitting the road, Tesla’s charging network is expanding in tandem. The unveiling of the new Ajax Supercharger signifies the company’s commitment to supporting the growing demand for electric vehicles in Canada.
