Waymo for Business: Bringing Autonomous Ride-Hailing to Organizations
Waymo, the autonomous driving technology company, made a significant announcement on Wednesday with the launch of Waymo for Business. This new program is aimed at providing organizations with access to Waymo’s fully autonomous ride-hailing service, helping them streamline their transportation needs. After successful piloting with various companies, schools, and event organizers, Waymo is now expanding its offering to reach more groups.
Operating in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Phoenix, Waymo for Business is set to build on the company’s existing track record of completing over a million trips every month. With nearly one in six riders relying on Waymo for their daily commute to work or school, the company’s around-the-clock reliability has made it a trusted option for shift workers, students, and healthcare staff. Now, with Waymo for Business, this same level of convenience will be extended to organizational partnerships.
Andrea Appiagyei, who leads Strategic Partnerships at Carvana, expressed their enthusiasm for the new program, stating, “We are proud to provide Waymo rides for both employees and guests of our hosted events. We’re committed to safety and sustainability, which makes Waymo a natural fit for business travel. When we host events, attendees love the premium and personal experience of an autonomous ride.”
Waymo for Business offers enterprise-grade tools such as a dedicated business portal, customizable promo codes for events, and reporting features to monitor rides and budgets. The company emphasizes that in addition to convenience, their all-electric fleet helps organizations advance their sustainability goals while showcasing cutting-edge innovation.
This launch comes on the heels of several recent developments for Waymo. In the past month, the company introduced an advance booking feature for riders, making it easier to schedule autonomous trips ahead of time. Waymo also became the first approved operator for autonomous vehicle testing in New York City and began testing robotaxis in Denver. Looking ahead, Waymo plans to launch a commercial service in Dallas next year.
While still in its early stages, Waymo is dedicated to evolving its business offerings to better support organizations of all sizes, from employers and universities to event hosts seeking a premium mobility option.
As Waymo continues to push the boundaries of autonomous driving technology, Waymo for Business represents a significant step towards integrating autonomous ride-hailing services into the daily operations of organizations, providing a safe, reliable, and sustainable transportation solution for employees, students, and event attendees alike.
