General Motors is making significant strides in the electric vehicle market with the introduction of the 2026 GMC Sierra EV. The latest model is set to appeal to a broader audience of EV truck buyers thanks to the addition of more trims and a lower starting price point.
Previously, the Sierra EV was only available in the Denali trim with two battery options, the Extended Range and Max Range, both of which came with a hefty price tag exceeding $100,000. However, GM has now introduced two new trims, the AT4 and Elevation, as well as an entry-level Standard battery option, making the Sierra EV more accessible to a wider range of consumers.
The Elevation trim, equipped with the Standard battery, starts at $64,495 with destination fees included, making it nearly $15,000 cheaper than the base Tesla Cybertruck. Opting for the Extended Range battery will bump the price up to $72,695. The AT4 trim, available with the Extended Range and Max Range options, starts at $81,395 and $91,695 respectively. The Denali trim, now available with all three battery options, sees a considerable drop in price, starting at $71,795 for the Standard Range, $80,000 for the Extended Range, and $100,695 for the Max Range.
GM’s global VP of Buick GMC, Jaclyn McQuaid, expressed excitement about the new trims and customer options, positioning the Sierra EV squarely in the premium truck market. The AT4 trim boasts two inches of extra ground clearance, rear-axle steering, Crab Walk functionality, and a maximum towing capacity of 12,300 pounds, making it a formidable off-road contender. On the other hand, the Elevation trim offers a more road-focused experience with features like a large 16.8-inch touchscreen and a powered frunk.
The electric truck market has faced challenges due to limited options and high prices, as well as concerns about range while towing and hauling. However, with the introduction of the 2026 GMC Sierra EV with its expanded trim options and competitive pricing, GM is poised to attract a wider audience of electric truck enthusiasts. Deliveries of the Sierra EV are expected to begin this summer, marking a significant step forward in GM’s electrification efforts.
