Tesla has officially announced that the revised Model Y is now available for order in Europe. This updated version comes with several improvements, both visible and under-the-hood, that enhance the overall driving experience of this popular electric SUV.
There are currently three variants of the Model Y on offer in Europe. The base rear-wheel-drive model comes with a 62.5-kilowatt-hour LFP battery pack and starts at €44,990. It boasts a single 275-horsepower motor that accelerates the vehicle from 0 to 62 mph in 5.9 seconds. The WLTP range on 19-inch wheels has increased to 311 miles, up from 282 miles in the previous model.
The long-range single-motor variant, priced at €49,990, features a larger 78.4 kWh NMC battery with a range of 386 miles. The top-of-the-range long-range dual-motor Model Y, priced at €52,990, has 66 more horsepower and accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 4.8 seconds. Its range is rated at 364 miles, dropping to 353 miles with the optional 20-inch wheels.
Tesla has made several improvements across all powertrain variants, including a lower drag coefficient, improved real-world efficiency, and a quieter interior. The vehicles now feel better built and of higher quality than their predecessors.
While the charging capabilities of the Model Y remain the same as before, with maximum charging powers of 250 kW and 175 kW depending on the battery pack, the charging curve for the refreshed model is yet to be revealed. Customers will have to wait for charging tests to see how the new model performs in this aspect.
The range-topping Model Y Performance has not been released yet, but Tesla promises to reveal more details later this year. There is also no seven-seater option available currently, but it is expected to be added to the lineup in the near future.
The updated Model Y arrives at a crucial time for Tesla, as the company faces declining sales globally and increasing scrutiny over CEO Elon Musk’s activities. The improvements to the Model Y are aimed at reversing these fortunes and maintaining Tesla’s position as a leader in the electric vehicle market.
Overall, the revised Tesla Model Y offers improved performance, range, and quality, making it an attractive option for customers looking for a premium electric SUV. Stay tuned for more updates on the Model Y Performance and other upcoming features from Tesla.
