Elon Musk Confirms Tesla’s Plan to Sell Cybercab for Less Than $30,000 by 2027
Elon Musk has recently confirmed that Tesla is indeed planning to offer a version of the Cybercab for under $30,000 by the year 2027. This announcement came following the production of the first Cybercab at Giga Texas’ production line.
After the milestone was reached, some members of the Tesla community couldn’t help but joke about a wager made by popular YouTube tech reviewer Marques Brownlee (MKBHD). Following Tesla’s We, Robot event in October 2024, MKBHD expressed skepticism about Elon Musk’s claim that the autonomous two-seater could be priced below $30,000 by 2027.
Despite MKBHD’s doubts, meme images of him with a shaved head spread on social media after Tesla’s announcement of the first Cybercab production. Longtime FSD tester Whole Mars Catalog even posted one of these memes, prompting a response from Musk himself, who confidently stated, “Gonna happen,” with a laughing emoji.
In addition to addressing the jokes about MKBHD’s wager, Musk reiterated that Tesla’s plan is to make the Cybercab available to consumers for $30,000 or less before 2027. When asked directly if this scenario would come to pass, Musk simply replied, “Yes.”
While the initial production of the Cybercab may be slow due to the introduction of new technology, Musk assured that production rates will eventually increase significantly. He explained that while the early production stages may be slow and challenging, the process will eventually become incredibly efficient.
Overall, Tesla’s commitment to making the Cybercab affordable for consumers demonstrates the company’s dedication to innovation and accessibility in the electric vehicle market. With Musk at the helm, the future of autonomous vehicles like the Cybercab looks promising.
