Elon Musk Announces Tesla Optimus to Serve as Food Runner at Supercharger Diner
Elon Musk made a surprising announcement on Wednesday that Tesla’s humanoid robot, Optimus, will soon be taking on a new role at the Supercharger Diner in Los Angeles. While Optimus was initially seen serving popcorn at the Diner’s grand opening, its responsibilities will soon expand to include delivering food directly to customers’ cars.
According to Musk, Optimus will receive a promotion in 2026 to become a food runner, streamlining the dining experience by bringing orders straight to parked vehicles. This move aligns with Tesla’s vision of offering a complete 1950s diner experience with a futuristic twist.
The Supercharger Diner, which features 80 charging stations accessible to both Tesla and non-Tesla electric vehicles, aims to recreate the nostalgic drive-in diner atmosphere while incorporating modern conveniences. Customers can order food from their cars, sync their screens to watch movie scenes projected on giant screens, and even take a break inside the diner.
Next year, Tesla plans to enhance the dining experience by having Optimus deliver food directly to customers’ cars, eliminating the need for them to leave their vehicles. This innovation is part of Tesla’s commitment to providing a seamless and enjoyable dining experience for all patrons.
Furthermore, Tesla has curated a menu that focuses on using organic, locally sourced ingredients from humane farms. This commitment to sustainability and quality aligns with Musk’s vision of providing healthier options for customers.
As Optimus continues to evolve and showcase its capabilities, Tesla is confident in the robot’s ability to handle food delivery tasks efficiently. While the use of roller skates for delivery remains uncertain, there is optimism that Optimus will excel in its new role next year.
