During Tesla’s third-quarter earnings call, Elon Musk shifted his stance on the concept of a $25,000 electric vehicle that he had previously championed.
Musk stated that Tesla will only produce a $25,000 EV as a robotaxi specifically designed for autonomous ride-sharing, rather than as a conventional consumer vehicle, as reported by InsideEVs.
He explained, “Having a regular $25,000 model is pointless. It would be silly. It would be completely at odds with what we believe.” Musk reiterated his belief that the future of transportation lies in autonomous vehicles.

Tesla Robotaxi Cybercab
Recently, Tesla unveiled the autonomous Cybercab and Robovan concepts, signaling their commitment to a future dominated by self-driving vehicles. Musk announced that the Cybercab, priced under $30,000, will be launched before 2027, emphasizing the company’s proactive approach to autonomous driving.
Although Musk had previously outlined plans for a $25,000 Tesla in 2020, touting it as a game-changing entry-level EV, the focus has shifted towards autonomous technology.
