Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, recently announced that Full Self-Driving (Supervised) could be launching in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as early as January 2026. This development could mark the beginning of FSD’s expansion into the Middle East, starting with the UAE next year.
Musk’s Timeline
During a post on X, UAE-based political analyst Ahmed Sharif Al Amiri inquired about the arrival of FSD in the country. Musk responded to the analyst’s question, stating, “Hopefully, next month.” This exchange generated significant interest from X users, who eagerly anticipate the introduction of FSD in a new region. FSD (Supervised) is expected to enable hands-off highway driving, urban navigation, and parking under driver supervision in bustling cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Musk’s comments regarding FSD’s potential launch in the UAE followed his recent visit to the country. Images surfaced online showing Musk meeting with UAE Defense Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, and Dubai Crown Prince HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed. Musk also expressed his admiration for the country by posting “UAE rocks!” on X.
Recognition for FSD
FSD has garnered praise from various international media outlets. FSD (Supervised) received positive feedback from Germany’s largest car magazine, Auto Bild, following a test in Berlin’s challenging urban setting. The demonstration showcased the system’s ability to navigate dense traffic, construction zones, pedestrian crossings, and narrow streets with confidence and precision.
Journalist Robin Hornig commended FSD’s exceptional perception and unwavering focus, noting, “Tesla FSD Supervised sees more than I do. It doesn’t get distracted and never tires. While I consider myself a good driver, I cannot match the system’s comprehensive vision. The system performs best when working in tandem with my driving experience, showcasing its maturity through vision-only sensors and continuous learning through over-the-air updates.” With only one intervention required due to a misread route, FSD demonstrated its advanced capabilities.
