Stellantis Delays Production of Ram 1500 REV Electric Pickup Truck
Stellantis has announced a delay in the start of production of the Ram 1500 REV electric pickup truck, with production now scheduled to begin in the first half of 2025, according to a report by Reuters.
The initial production timeline aimed for a release before the end of this year, positioning the REV as a 2025 model. However, Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares cited a need to ensure quality as the reason for the delay during a media call with Reuters and other outlets.
“We are just facing a very significant amount of workload,” Tavares explained.

2025 Ram 1500 REV
The Ram 1500 REV, first unveiled in 2023, aims to compete with electric pickup trucks like the Ford F-150 Lightning, Chevrolet Silverado EV, Rivian R1T, and Tesla Cybertruck. It boasts a range of up to 500 miles thanks to a 229-kWh battery pack, with a standard 168-kWh pack offering an estimated 350 miles of range. The truck also features 350-kW DC fast-charging capability that can recover up to 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes.
Additionally, the Ram 1500 REV is equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain generating 654 hp and 620 lb-ft of torque. It promises a 0-60 mph time of 4.4 seconds, a towing capacity of 14,000 pounds, and a payload capacity of 2,700 pounds.

Stellantis is also developing the Ram 1500 Ramcharger, a range-extended pickup truck featuring a 92-kWh battery pack for 145 miles of electric range, supplemented by a V-6 engine that can provide an additional 545 miles by acting as a generator. The Ramcharger is expected to hit the market as a 2025 model, although specific timing has not been confirmed.
The electrified Ram 1500 trucks are built on the STLA Frame platform, which was recently detailed by the automaker. This platform, the largest of four multi-energy platforms announced in 2021, is designed to accommodate various powertrains including battery-electric, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, hydrogen fuel-cell, and internal combustion engines. In addition to Ram trucks, the STLA Frame platform will be utilized for commercial vehicles and full-size SUVs like the upcoming iterations of the Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer, which will also offer range-extended powertrain options.
