The Chevrolet Silverado EV Introduces Sidewinder Mode
Chevy has confirmed that the Chevrolet Silverado EV will now feature its own version of the CrabWalk mode found on the GMC Sierra EV sibling. This unique feature, called Sidewinder, utilizes the Silverado EV’s rear-wheel steering to allow for diagonal driving at speeds up to 20 mph.
Drivers can easily activate Sidewinder mode by accessing the Rear Steering page in the Controls menu on the infotainment display. The mode is standard on the 2025 Chevrolet Silverado EV RST and will be added to 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV RST First Edition models through an over-the-air update.
In addition to the introduction of Sidewinder mode, the 2025 Chevrolet Silverado EV will see range increases, with the RST grade offering 460 miles and the base WT model reaching 492 miles with the larger Max Range pack. A new LT grade will also be introduced between these models.
Originally featured on the GMC Hummer EV and the 2024 GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1, the CrabWalk feature has now made its way to the Cadillac Escalade IQ SUV as Cadillac Arrival Mode.
