BYD Unveils High-Power Charging System for EVs
Chinese automaker BYD has introduced a new high-power charging system that is set to revolutionize the electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in China. The new “Super E-Platform” by BYD promises megawatt charging capabilities, enabling users to add 400 kilometers of range in just five minutes.
According to a report by Reuters, BYD founder Wang Chuanfu announced the breakthrough during a livestream event from the company’s headquarters in Shenzhen. The Super E-Platform is designed to deliver 1,000 kw of power, making it one of the fastest charging systems available in the market.

The Super E-Platform charging system will be initially available in the BYD Han L sedan and Tang L SUV, priced at 270,000 yuan (approximately $37,000). BYD also plans to install over 4,000 charging stations in China that are compatible with the new high-power charging hardware.
While some automakers like Tesla have also explored megawatt charging technology, BYD’s Super E-Platform sets a new benchmark for fast and efficient EV charging. The company’s commitment to building a robust charging infrastructure is a significant step towards promoting widespread adoption of electric vehicles.
