Elon Musk’s tunneling startup, The Boring Company, is making waves in the housing industry with its futuristic approach. According to a recent report from the Las Vegas Review-Journal, The Boring Company is set to construct a 132-unit multifamily project with a connected Loop station in Las Vegas.
The planned six-story building, located at 4300 Paradise Road, will have a unique U-shaped design and will feature a drive-thru bodega on the ground floor. The second level will be packed with amenities such as a residents-only bar and lounge, game room, gym, and a courtyard. Despite having just 24 parking spots instead of the typical 189, the project is heavily reliant on its Loop connection. The proximity to UNLV is also emphasized, providing much-needed housing options for students and faculty.
The Loop station at the planned facility will be part of the upcoming University Center Loop, connecting various key areas around the city like the Virgin Hotel Las Vegas and the Las Vegas Convention Center. Once completed, the Vegas Loop is expected to span 68 miles of underground tunnels with 104 stations across the resort corridor, downtown Las Vegas, and other strategic locations.
Currently, the Vegas Loop has only four stations, including two at the Las Vegas Convention Center, one at Resorts World, and another at Westgate. Additional stations at Encore are also in the works. The Vegas Loop is being constructed using Prufrock, an all-electric tunnel boring machine custom-designed by The Boring Company. The medium-term goal for Prufrock is to exceed 1/10 of human walking speed, or 7 miles per day.
The Boring Company’s innovative approach to housing and transportation is reshaping the future of urban living. With a focus on sustainability and efficiency, the company’s projects are set to revolutionize the way we think about city planning and infrastructure.
