The sedan market is facing some challenges, but Kia is ready to shake things up with the new EV4. Unveiled at Kia’s 2025 EV Day in Barcelona, the EV4 comes in both sedan and hatchback versions, offering a range of batteries, eye-catching design, and a potentially affordable price tag.
Based on the E-GMP platform, the EV4 offers buyers a choice between a 58.3 or 81.4kWh battery, delivering 201 hp to the front wheels. While it’s not a mechanical twin to the Hyundai Ioniq 6, the EV4 does offer the potential for a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive variant.
With a low drag coefficient of 0.23cd, the EV4 is a highly efficient car, offering up to 367 miles of range in the hatchback version and 391 miles in the sedan. Charging is quick, with the ability to go from 10-80% in just 29 or 31 minutes, depending on the battery size.
The interior of the EV4 is spacious and modern, with top-notch materials and plenty of tech features. Two 12.3-inch screens make up the infotainment and instrument panels, with an additional 5.3-inch screen for A/C controls. The car even comes with a Theater Mode for entertainment on the go.
Safety is a top priority for Kia, with the EV4 featuring a range of advanced driver assistance systems, including Highway Driving Assist, Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, and Lane Following Assist. Kia ensures that the EV4 is not only tech-savvy but also safe on the road.
On the performance side, the EV4 is designed for a comfortable ride with a suspension setup that balances handling and comfort. With MacPherson struts up front and multi-link at the rear, the EV4 offers a smooth and enjoyable driving experience.
The Kia EV4 is set to go on sale in Korea in March, followed by a European launch later in the year. U.S. sales are expected to start in 2026, with pricing likely to be around $39,000 for the entry-level model. With its impressive range, modern design, and advanced tech features, the EV4 is poised to make a splash in the sedan market and prove that there’s still a place for four-door cars in the world of EVs.
