Acura Announces Second Electric SUV: The RSX
- Acura’s second EV will be the RSX
- The RSX will be a fastback crossover SUV built in Ohio
- The RSX will feature Honda and Acura’s next-gen operating system called Asimo
Acura is set to introduce its second electric SUV to the market this year, and it will be the RSX, a name that holds nostalgia for Acura enthusiasts.
The RSX, previously associated with a sporty coupe from the early 2000s, will now be reincarnated as a sleek electric SUV with coupe-like styling. This new model takes inspiration from the Acura Performance EV concept, promising a unique and futuristic design.
Unlike its larger counterpart, the Acura ZDX, which is based on a General Motors platform, the RSX will be the first Acura model built on a dedicated EV platform. This platform will also be utilized for the Honda 0 Series EVs, showcasing a commitment to electric mobility from Acura’s parent brand.
One of the standout features of the RSX will be the introduction of the Asimo operating system, named after the iconic humanoid robot. This system is designed to enhance infotainment and driver-assist capabilities, setting a new standard for technology in Acura and Honda EVs.
Production of the electric Acura RSX will take place in Ohio, as Honda gears up its facilities to accommodate the growing demand for EVs. Alongside the RSX, the production line will also include future Honda 0 Series models and the Afeela 1 from the Sony Honda Mobility joint venture.
